Have you been thinking of dancing forever, watching other peoples' steps, maybe secretly viewing "Dancing with the Stars"? (DWTS) Well you came to the right place to learn! I am a social dance teacher.
Social and Performance Dance is my specialty. I am a teacher, but I think of myself more as a dance advocate or "Zealot". The more people I teach to dance well, the more people I might have to dance with! I've been dancing over 15 years and teaching around 12 years . I do not practice competition dancing (dancing for judges) nor do I teach it. I do perform and do exibits in partner dance from time to time. I am currently coming out of a long term injury, but I have danced in front of 800 people, and attended dances that hold 1000 dancers. I have also DJed for 1000 dancers between big band sets. A huge honor, in Culver City California, near Hollywood.
Now, I mostly focus on keeping a rigorous private dance instruction & choreography schedule, from 12pm to 9pm Mon.-Sat. Check my calendar for continuous price specials! But consult me directly for specific times. I also teach a group class a couple times a month in Portland, listed on the Calendar. Or under Group Classes
Dancing is fun and excellent excercise and also a way to 'show off' our rhythm and personlalities, meet new people, or have fun with the ones we already know! It's also great mental excercise and relaxation, and a great way to communicate without having to talk. Dancing can't exist without music so a lot of learning dance will involve understanding music, especially for the leader. I love my job and love dancing. You won't find any fuddy duddy elitism or badd attitude here, just a bunch of new moves and a fun style of learning! Bring an open mind and be ready for some serious fun!
